there was an age when
i would have closed my eyes
and trusted you, when you said,
to the moon and back.
when the smell of grass
and borrowed books, and
fresh paint and dreams
brought my songs alive.
i've traded sunburnt smiles
for unspoken words
and now, there are cold
October nights
without nightingales.
i, with my forest trails
and dark misty woods
now find in half moon smiles
and unshed tears,
broken poetry.
there's no trace of me
i've stopped waiting,
waiting for yesterdays.
and just when i'm sure
i want this day and no more,
you give me moments..
moments
with lilies outside fogged windows,
the warm glow of old love
you dance me around the room
your eyes talking of spring
there's the sound of water over pebbles
there are tree trunks by the shore
and as my feet sink in
miles of glorious black sand
there is laughter, all mine.
and in your eyes again
i know pain and quiet loss
and whispers, and dark moods
and there's this tightness in my chest
as you hold me close to yours
i'm learning to cry again.

Watch how she laughs
Like she owns the wind
And the stars that hide their face
In the brilliance of the sun.
She laughs
Even when dark takes over
Rips away, her cloak of fervour.
She waits for the moon
To lure the waves
Stands soulless, over the cliffs.
And when you look away
She drops her mask
And she silently, falls.
Like she owns the wind
And the stars that hide their face
In the brilliance of the sun.
She laughs
Even when dark takes over
Rips away, her cloak of fervour.
She waits for the moon
To lure the waves
Stands soulless, over the cliffs.
And when you look away
She drops her mask
And she silently, falls.

asides: silence so loud
you don’t ask
and I don’t tell
and we wonder why
tongues wag.
your gaze meets mine
over their heads
and we smile,
conspire.
i wait for you
to look my way
oblivious to the sparks
that fly, when you do.
like when you speak to me
with your eyes
and i answer,
wordlessly.
star-gazers both, sit together
wait for shooting stars
forget our wish breathes beside us
oh, such fools we are.
half of me
lives without half of you
and we still wonder
why we’re leading half-lives!
and I don’t tell
and we wonder why
tongues wag.
your gaze meets mine
over their heads
and we smile,
conspire.
i wait for you
to look my way
oblivious to the sparks
that fly, when you do.
like when you speak to me
with your eyes
and i answer,

star-gazers both, sit together

oh, such fools we are.

lives without half of you
and we still wonder
why we’re leading half-lives!

Getting out of myself and liking what I see
I wonder why I didn't see it
As I rushed blindly in the night
Light sauntered in brilliantly
Night gave in without a fight.
I did not know what I was at
I knew not whom to turn to
But as I made my way out
I smelt wet earth and dew.
These phases of sightlessness
Were they so that I see,
What I had failed to all these days
That I had to forgive me?
I wasn't made for anger
I wasn't made for spite
I cannot vouch for the world
But I wanna set things right.
There's this little God in me
Who tells me I am more
Who tells me the truth
I am splendid, to the core!
I cannot undo my past
Or make the future mine
I can do one thing, I know
Dispel hatred with sunshine!
As I rushed blindly in the night
Light sauntered in brilliantly
Night gave in without a fight.
I did not know what I was at
I knew not whom to turn to
But as I made my way out
I smelt wet earth and dew.
These phases of sightlessness

Hymn!
Selfishness is a religion
Colored in the darkest hue
My heart is a pilgrim
Whose footprints lead to you!
I stand up, i dare
I know I believe
I'm labeled a mercenary
Coz' my mind i refuse to give!
Their prayers are but moans
They themselves fail to hear
My life is the answer
They seek for but also fear!
I've known forever that
It's you who's been my truth
Let them kneel for kings as serfs
I worship thee, my youth!
There'll be a hundred walls
A hundred sins that glitter
But my loyalties I lay
To you, who lives in my mirror!
Colored in the darkest hue
My heart is a pilgrim
Whose footprints lead to you!
I stand up, i dare
I know I believe
I'm labeled a mercenary
Coz' my mind i refuse to give!
Their prayers are but moans
They themselves fail to hear
My life is the answer
They seek for but also fear!
I've known forever that
It's you who's been my truth
Let them kneel for kings as serfs

Hopelessly!
Oh, it's hopeless I say
There's no other way
Putting you and me together
Is like weighing stone with feathers!
Things aren't what they used to be
It would work if I believed in me
If the hero in me weren't Hamlet
And life weren't Russian Roulette!
You'd do better with a lass all coy
Who'd steal your heart, but love you boy!
You'd be the king of her heart
And kill the dragon, scale her fort!
I'm no woman for the ages
I enrage even sages
My exploits are legendary
You, for me, will remain secondary!
I'll break your heart, chew your bones
Our shouting matches will splinter stones
Never will I rise to your expectation
Though you may choose to give in to temptation!
So now boy, heed my warning, stay away!
While you still have a heatrt, unswayed
For I may decide to fall for you
And if I do, even the Good Lord wouldn't come to your rescue!
There's no other way
Putting you and me together
Is like weighing stone with feathers!
Things aren't what they used to be
It would work if I believed in me
If the hero in me weren't Hamlet

On the threshold of a dream
On the threshold of a dream
Have you stopped and waited
Wanted to take control
Of those tomorrows fated?
Have you watched dreams shatter
Into shards, like a mirror
And bled when you tried
To piece them together?
I have watvhed life slip
Away from my grasp
Stood helplessly watching it
Escape from its clasp!
Been so close to love
Yet a coward to live
I've been in tomorrow
And learnt to forgive.
Have you stopped and waited
Wanted to take control
Of those tomorrows fated?
Have you watched dreams shatter
Into shards, like a mirror
And bled when you tried
To piece them together?
I have watvhed life slip
Away from my grasp
Stood helplessly watching it
Escape from its clasp!
Been so close to love
Yet a coward to live
I've been in tomorrow
And learnt to forgive.
I'll go on like this
Never bitten yet shy
To the day you come
And ask me why!
